Hi, I'm Hai.

I'm a San Diego event photographer, and I've been behind the camera since 2014.

My journey into photography actually started with landscapes. I loved being outdoors with a camera, looking for interesting compositions and learning how light could completely change the feeling of a scene.

Eventually, photography took me somewhere I didn't expect.

I began assisting a wedding photographer, spending the next two to three years learning the craft from the ground up—from carrying and setting up lights to working as a second shooter and learning how to anticipate those moments before they happened.

That experience taught me something I still carry with me today: great event photography isn't just about having a camera ready. It's about paying attention.

From there, I started volunteering at film festivals and photographing corporate events. I found myself drawn to the energy of live events—the people, the atmosphere, the unexpected moments, and the stories that unfold throughout the day.

I've been doing it ever since.

I Notice the Light

One of the things I love most about photography is lighting.

I'm the person watching a movie who notices how a scene is lit before I notice anything else. I'll pause a film or YouTube video to admire the way light is shaping a subject. I'm constantly browsing websites and magazines looking at photographs and asking myself what makes an image work.

That curiosity has become a big part of how I photograph events.

I look for interesting light, clean compositions, genuine expressions, and those fleeting moments that can easily be missed when you're focused on everything else happening around you.

What You Can Expect From Me

Being photographed can feel intimidating, especially when you're busy hosting or enjoying an important event.

My goal is to make the photography part easy.

I'm personable, relaxed, and easy to work with. I'll give you direction when you need it, stay out of the way when the moment calls for it, and always keep an eye on what's happening around me.

Most importantly, I genuinely care about capturing the celebration.
